From the 29th July to 3rd August 2019, all the superiors and councillors of our African IMC Regions and Delegations met in Sagana for a workshop on Leadership and service of Authority.
Also in attendance was the General Superior Fr. Stefano Carmelengo as well as the General Councellor in charge of Africa Fr. Godfrey Msumange. Many facilitators had been invited to come and talk to the superiors on this important topic given that all the councils are newly elected.
The participants decided to visit our roots by going to Tuthu mission to where our first Consolata Missionaries established themselves and did their very first mass before embarking on evangelization of Consolata on the Central and Northern Corridor of Kenya. Therefore on the 1st August, they all went to Tuthu where they started their program with Holy Eucharist celebrated by Fr. Ottone Cantore assisted by the Regional Council of Kenya. The mass was celebrated at the Consolata Memorial Suntuary in Tuthu. After mass, Fr. Brambilla the parish priest of Tuthu had prepared a nice lunch and refreshments at the priest’s residence for our superiors. However, going to Tuthu the superiors passed by Gikondi parish where Blessed Irene Stefani Nyaatha worked and died. It was a nice moment to see the house where this great servant of the God lived and gave her whole life for the people of Gikondi.
After the humble visit in Tuthu , the superiors went to Mathari to visit our propaedetic formation house as well as the graveyard of our great missionaries who have gone back to the Lord.
We thank the Lord for the great Missionary work done by the Consolata Missionaries in Kenya and in the African Continent in General. We pray that they may continue to walk in the footsteps of our first Consolata Missionaries and of Blessed Irene Stefani Nyaatha.
